The Machine Shop is a collaborative workspace, co-founded by four independent creative studios as a shared studio space. Located in Downtown Colorado Springs, this former automotive garage is now home to artists, architects, developers, designers, and writers.
The space is home to three custom murals by the amazing Kyle Steed. Custom furnishings are seen in every corner of the office; adjustable steel desks make for ergonomic workstations for each person’s needs and preferences, a poured in place concrete island becomes the central conversation area at lunch, a large community table repurposed from a printmakers studio is the perfect place for creative discussion, and a custom steel frame, brass inlaid ping-pong/conference table makes for a great stress reliever after a hard day of work.
Custom steel framed translucent sliding panels act not only as whiteboard area, but also as a division of space when set up for events; especially useful when The Machine Shop transforms into an Art Gallery on the first Friday of every month. Radiant heated floors, powered by solar tube panels mounted to the side of the building, warm the space in the cooler months, while the buildings original swamp cooler relieves the hotter days. The space has truly become a hub of creativity bettering the work of all who get to spend their time here.
