The Springs at Missoula

This Senior Housing Facility was Ryan Lloyd’s first role as Project Architect. He led the design team from Conceptual Design through completion of Construction Documents on this $10 million, 156,000 square foot Senior Housing Facility. The project encompasses an Independent Living Facility, Assisted Living Facility, and Alzheimers Care Facility all in one very large building.

The design of the Project gives each facility its own distinct feel and ‘sense of home’ while fitting in with the craftsman and mining vernacular that is prolific in the area. The vehicular parking is spread throughout the site providing easy access to each facility and minimizing the visual impact of the large amount of parking required for such a large facility.

The interior is complete with heavy timber look beams, stone fireplaces, game rooms, a library, dining room and bistro, and most importantly many places to gather in various group sizes in comfortable spaces bathed in natural daylight. At the heart of the three story Independent Living Facility is a courtyard complete with putting green, local vegetation, and a small creek keeping it cool and providing ambient white noise.

The Alzheimers Care Facility is naturally daylit with large clerestory windows and heated with a gas fireplace creating an open and comfortable space for the residents to spend their days. The entire facility is accessible for disabled residents.
