Over Easy – University Village

KEY ELEMENTS:  commercial / design / restaurant /

Location: 4262 N Nevada #100, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Completed early 2014

Over Easy, a Daytime Eatery, hired Echo Architecture to design their second location in Colorado.  Full advantage was taken of the breathtaking views of Pikes Peak and the flood of natural early daylight the space receives through an atrium space during operating hours.  The concept was directed by attaching a new aesthetic to the Over Easy brand by introducing modern, clean lines and industrial elements to the existing contemporary brand.  Materiality and changes in ceiling height imply separation of space, creating more intimate dining areas within the open concept restaurant.  Custom planters emphasize the importance of available fresh ingredients (offering herbs and garnishes), while the first green wall in Colorado Springs brings an unexpected energy and brightness upon entry.  Sound control throughout the space is provided by perforated acoustic metal panels in the dining area and a glass wall to reduce travel of kitchen noise while still allowing an open kitchen concept.  A “Big Ass Fan” (that is the real brand name) provides cooling and drama to the large double height dining space.

Do yourself a favor and check this place out, if the architecture doesn’t wow you, the food will.  (But we’re pretty sure the architecture will wow you.)
